Sapgir Band is a Moscow-based band, founded by songwriter, singer and musician Dmitry Sapgir in 2005. All the members of the band are professional and experienced musicians, quite well known in Moscow indie-scene. Along with vocal, guitar and rhythm section there are also acoustic guitar, keyboards and fiddle in the band. The musicians sometimes add to the songs some accordion and harp as well. All the members of the band are really into classic British and American bands of 60-70s and sure of that so called "classic" rock will never be forgotten and unpopular and that songs with good melodies will find their loving ears and hearts anyway.
The music of Sapgir Band - is fine, good quality, old school rock, written and played by unordinary and talented Russian musicians. Music and aesthetics of the band is close and apprehensible to those who know and love good old rock music. The lyrics are full of austere style, charm, romantic, right and beautiful accords with a light hint of danger. That's why the motto and agenda of the band is: "Whiskey, Love & Gangsta Rock".
And the last, but not the least what makes the songs of Sapgir Band especially interesting, original and even unique is the harmonic symbiosis of old school English-American rock'n'roll and the best traditions of Russian (Soviet) bards of 60-80-es in both poetry and melodically-wise. This chemistry always earns praises of both Russian and foreigner fans who listen to the band's music.
Sapgir Band has been worked hard during last year and a half playing gigs and writing and recording songs and deserved love and respect among Moscow fans. In March 2006 they played some gigs in Moscow with legendary British indie-rocker Dave Kusworth (Dave Kusworth Group, Jacobites, ex-Dogs D'Amour) with whom they also recorded a song called "It's A Crime".
The band has a good video on "Give Me Just An Answer" song, which is already known by fans and ordinary viewers of some Russian music channels.
Recently the band just have finished their debut album, called "Dreams And Reality" (including "It's A Crime" featuring Dave Kusworth).
Sapgir Band has always been loved by fans for their gigs full of energetic, fun, lovely ballads and good emotions. It's a really good live band, but their studio works are done in a very high quality and with a lot of talent and love to the music, which one can make sure of listening to their album.
Long-awaited "Dreams And Reality" album fits perfectly for either partying with friends or colleagues, or romantic date, but what is probably the most precious - just to be listen to and enjoying.
The band is always open for any offers of tours, recordings and any other ways of collaboration.
